BGCHarlem fills the gap between school and home by providing a positive, welcoming environment where kids and teens can have fun, participate in life-changing programs, and build supportive relationships with their peers and caring adults.

Where to Find Us

The Boys & Girls Club of Harlem currently has 5 school sites located in New York City’s renowned Harlem. Open to youth between the ages of 5 and 18, our clubhouses provide a safe space full of opportunities for boys and girls from the local community.

Shaba R. Keys
President and Chief Executive Officer

Shaba R. Keys was appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem in May 2025. A nationally recognized leader in social innovation, she brings over 25 years of experience advancing equity through education, advocacy, and public-private partnerships.

Shaba previously served as Board Chair of both the Boys & Girls Club of Harlem and the NY/Long Island Area Council for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. She is also the Co-Founder of The Bridge Lab, where she launched the Future Workforce Initiative, a national model connecting underrepresented youth to careers in film, media, business, and technology.

During her decade at Columbia University, Shaba led community engagement strategies and oversaw a $1 million workforce development partnership with Empire State Development. She currently teaches Leading with Purpose: Advocacy and Strategy in the Nonprofit Sector in Columbia’s Nonprofit Management M.S. program.

In 2022, she was honored as one of Crain’s New York Business and Empire BlueCross BlueShield’s 25 Empire Whole Health Heroes. She is widely known for aligning strategy, policy, and partnerships to drive meaningful change.

Shaba holds a J.D. from The Catholic University of America, a B.A. from Tufts University, and a Certificate of Business Excellence from Columbia Business School.
